The Beijing Key Laboratory of Nanophotonics and Ultrafine Optoelectronic Systems was established by relying on the School of Physics and the School of Optoelectronics of Beijing Institute of Technology, and was officially recognized and listed by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission in August 2012. The laboratory mainly conducts basic research and applied basic research on the design of new photonic materials, principles of quantum physics and various new optoelectronic devices.

At present, there are 29 researchers in the laboratory, and they are fully exploring the interaction mechanism and application principle of photons and matter in the micro-nano structures. The laboratory actively conducts scientific research and has conducted a large number of academic exchanges and cooperative research in Taiwan, the United States, Canada, Germany, France and other domestic and foreign scientific research institutions, and has published or co-published many SCI papers in high-level journals, and also applied for a number of domestic and international patents.
